Compromise
When the noise subsides, what's left behind is a deafening silence. A gap so colossal, a void so blank that nothing will ever fit into it. And it is only then, after all the din created by the noise that fades, that the silence actually sinks in. What could've been, what should've been... endless questions to an already numb mind.
The mind grapples, looks and tries to grasp meanings of its own. Deductions are made on theories that are non-existent, and conclusions are drawn. The void of the silence creeps deeper into the mind, forcing it to make mistakes which, once made, might take a lifetime to rectify.
A truce is unpardonable, neither unavoidable. The heart tries to take matters into its own hands, trying to come to the rescue of the mind. But little does the heart realize that by doing so it is only jeopardizing what could've been a fair truce. The war wages on - the mind's ally making it emotionally inviable, while its opponent continually stares at it with a snicker on its face.
It takes an eternity, a deviation from the ordinary to make the three of them come to terms with each other. And when that is done, it is but a compromise of sorts.
Hmmm... nothing personal, just an outburst of emotions on a lazy Saturday afternoon :)
ReplyDeleteHas tons of meanings nati..depends on the state of mind of the person reading it...
ReplyDeleteYep exactly Boju.
ReplyDeleteReminds me of the song...The sound of silence :)
ReplyDeleteHello darkness, my old friend,
Ive come to talk with you again,
Because a vision softly creeping,
Left its seeds while I was sleeping,
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the sound of silence.
In restless dreams I walked alone
Narrow streets of cobblestone,
neath the halo of a street lamp,
I turned my collar to the cold and damp
When my eyes were stabbed by the flash of
A neon light
That split the night
And touched the sound of silence.
Very commendable work....I think think i should give you some props to write...:)
Thanks Ama. What props we talking about?
