Save our tigers, the ZooZoo way

Have you been watching the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2010? If yes, then chances are that you have seen the new, funny ZooZoo ads. These cute little mascots of Vodafone had definitely won over almost everyone when they first came to our television sets last year, during the International cricket T20 World cup. And they're back again with the IPL 2010 - some cricket connection, huh?

Well, as always, the ads are funny, light and cute. But as I was watching one of their ads tonight (and while I was also trying to simultaneously study for my exam tomorrow), I couldn't help but notice something. Most of the ZooZoo ads featured the Tiger.

Now we know and have been made aware of the fact that there are just 1411 tigers left in India. Yes. It's true. These beautiful creatures are fast disappearing from the face of the earth because of their brutal killings by humankind - either for their skin, or their tooth, or just for the sake of protection. So please, lets save our national animal - it is our duty as Indians to contribute every bit we can for the cause. And even if you're not an Indian, please spread the awareness. We don't want to be a part of history which says that the tiger became extinct during our tenure on Planet Earth!

Coming back to the ZooZoo ads.

Well, most of these new ads feature the tiger. Subtly, without indicating anything much to the viewer. And I think its a very noble effort on the part of Vodafone's creative team to choose the tiger and not another animal for this purpose. This is a very subtle awareness, I feel, that these folks are trying to create. And for that, hats off to them.

They could've chosen any other animal they wanted. Why, some of their last year's ads featured crocodiles, if I remember correctly. But this time, I think they've made an earnest attempt to only feature tigers wherever they can. And again I say, it's very noble of them.

Take a look at their ads below (all videos taken from www.youtube.com) and see for yourself. This is, indeed, a great and subtle way of getting the tiger awareness spread. Kudos Vodafone for doing your bit!
